βwhen you next spot a success story that triggers comparison, applaud their milestones as you would a best friend's. Imagine the hurdles theyβve had to overcome. This isn't just about celebrating others but transforming envy into admiration, and competition into camaraderie.β
Love this! Iβve been experiencing a lot of doubt and self-judgement as Iβve started to build my business. Thank you for the reminder that adding myself to the mix of offerings enhances what is available because Iβm the only me.
You're not the only one Jillian! But you're doing wonderfully, and always remember that lovely cake of your own π° PS. Congrats on 1 year on substack! I definitely think cake is in order! π₯³
What a lovely piece Hannah! Itβs so easy to feel discouraged when you see your brilliant idea done by someone else. But youβre so right, thereβs room for us all, and if anything, it proves it was a great idea! And thereβs only one βusβ so we will have our own different flair to it. Thanks Hannah!
Thank you Mika π«ΆπΌ It is oh so easy to get discouraged when you see everyone else shining so brightly, but there's so much space for us all and I think we create a better space (especially for ourselves!) when we're wishing each other well, even if silently π€
Comparison gets us no matter we try to be compassionate and happy for others. You cake theory will be a useful perspective shift to use at such time. Thanks for sharing this, Hannah.
It's a natural part of life isn't it? But learning some concepts and frameworks can help us shift out of a comparison mode if it's leading to a negative spiral. Hope the cake theory helps you in the future π«ΆπΌ Sending you virtual cake! π°π₯°
I love this theory! The comparison demon has a lot to answer for at times and Iβve certainly spent far too long doom-scrolling in the past. I think itβs only natural to feel that instant kick, almost as if someone else has taken our idea and is doing it much better than we ever could. But reframing it is a much better way of thinking, thereβs room for us all x
That comparison demon is a sneaky one! It really can just hit us out of nowhere, especially when we're having some casual scroll time. Just try and imagine that beautiful delicious cake of your own any time comparison starts to trigger again π°π°π°

Your wisdom in full bloom.
Brava Hannah π
ahh thank you Rodrigo π€

I love this! Cake for everyone! π₯°
Exactly Joanna! Business feels much more lighter and joyful when I start seeing everyone with their own cake! π°π§ππ«ΆπΌ
Nothing drives home a point for me more strongly than a brilliant metaphor. I loved reading this!
I'm so glad! And yepp, I'm such a fan of metaphors, especially to overcome obstacles. Now I associate feelings of comparison with cake π

Yes, Iβm definitely going to use this theory. I love it. Thank you π€
Itβs cool to believe thereβs no just thing as originality; just uniqueness. Love the cake concept π°
thank you Jenni! I love Jadah Sellners's take on this too: "There are no unique messages, only unique messengers"... and cakes! π°π«ΆπΌ
